Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda Held Inauguration Ceremony of Donated Chinese-style Pavilion and Spring Festival Cultural Experience Event at Sir Novelle Richards Academy

On March 3, 2026, the Lantern Festival, Chinese Embassy in Antigua and Barbuda held the inauguration ceremony of the donated Chinese-style Pavilion at Sir Novelle Richards Academy. H.E. Ambassador Jiang Wei, Principal Mrs. Listine Bradshaw attended and addressed the ceremony. Mrs. Greene-Phillip, Local Director of the Confucius Institute in Antigua and Barbuda (CIAB), Mr. Wen Han, Chinese Director of CIAB, as well as representatives of teachers and students from the academy attended the activity.

Ambassador Jiang extended festive greetings to all teachers and students, noting that the pavilion represents deep friendship between the two peoples. She pointed out, Sir Novelle Richards Academy has been dedicating efforts in Chinese language education and made positive contributions to closer people-to-people bonds between the two countries. China stands ready to work with Antigua and Barbuda to deepen cooperation in education, culture and a lot more aspects, so that seeds of friendship will root deeply and blossom in the hearts of the younger generation.

Principal Bradshaw expressed gratitude to the Embassy for donating the Chinese-style Pavilion, and voiced confidence that students will love and welcome this unique Oriental scene.

Students of the Academy presented performances of Chinese songs and dances, and recited Song of Magnolia: Good Times at the Lantern Festival, a poem by Su Shi. They also experienced traditional Chinese cultural activities including writing the character "Fu" (good fortune) and painting fans, as well as traditional games such as ribbon-dragon dance and tug-of-war.
