On December 3, 2025, Her Excellency Jiang Wei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Antigua and Barbuda, paid courtesy call on President of the Senate the Hon. Alincia Williams-Grant and Speaker of the House of Representatives the Hon. Osbert Frederick respectively, and exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Jiang stated that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries in recent years, China-Antigua and Barbuda relations have maintained a sound development momentum, with fruitful pragmatic cooperation and enduring traditional friendship. Exchanges between legislative bodies constitute an important part of bilateral relations. China stands ready to continuously deepen friendly exchanges with the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda and strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the two sides in legislative oversight, inter-party exchanges and other fields.

Senator Williams-Grant and House Speaker Frederick welcomed Ambassador Jiang to assume new post and expressed that it is a broad consensus among the Senate, the House of Representatives and all sectors of society in Antigua and Barbuda to actively promote the development of relations with China. Antigua and Barbuda stands ready to work with China to intensify exchanges and cooperation between the two countries’ legislative bodies, and effectively enhance mutual understanding and peoples’ well-being.
