On November 24, 2025, Her Excellency Jiang Wei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Antigua and Barbuda, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening China-Antigua and Barbuda relations and pragmatic cooperation.

Ambassador Jiang noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 42 years ago, the two countries have always respected and supported each other and bilateral relations have maintained sound and stable development. China highly appreciates Antigua and Barbuda’s firm adherence to the One-China principle, and will, as always, support Antigua and Barbuda in safeguarding its national sovereignty and independence as well as independently choosing a development path in line with its national conditions.

PM Browne welcomed Ambassador Jiang and underscored that China is now widely recognized as Antigua and Barbuda’s leading development partner. He reaffirmed Antigua and Barbuda’s clear and unwavering support for the One-China principle, noting that the position is not only longstanding but based on respect for territorial sovereignty and international norms.
