On November 3, 2025, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met respectively with President of the National Council of Slovenia Marko Lotrič in Beijing.
During the meeting, Zhao Leji stated that over the 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Slovenia have always treated each other as equals, upheld mutual respect and mutual trust, and pursued win-win cooperation. At present, China-Slovenia relations have maintained stable and sound development, with close exchanges at all levels. China is ready to work with Slovenia to continue being reliable friends and partners, deepen political mutual trust and practical cooperation, and advance bilateral relations to a higher level. The NPC of China is ready to deepen exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries at all levels and enhance the sharing of governance experience to create a sound legal environment for bilateral cooperation. Zhao Leji also briefed Marko Lotrič on the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Marko Lotrič stated that Slovenia and China uphold mutual respect, solidarity and cooperation, and political mutual trust continues to strengthen. Slovenia firmly adheres to the one-China principle, highly appreciates the series of global initiatives proposed by the Chinese side, and is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields, advance the Belt and Road cooperation, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice.
During the meeting, Wang Huning said that since the beginning of this year, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, exchanges and dialogues at all levels and in all fields between China and Slovenia have been frequent, effectively enhancing mutual understanding and trust. China appreciates Slovenia's adherence to the one-China principle. China is ready to work with Slovenia to increase exchanges in various fields, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, work together for common development, and take bilateral relations to a new height. The CPPCC of China is ready to further deepen mutual learning with the National Council of Slovenia and contribute to the greater development of China-Slovenia relations.
Marko Lotrič highly commended the Belt and Road Initiative and the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, expressed strong endorsement of the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity, and highly appreciated China's proactive efforts in promoting common development and fairness and justice. He stated that Slovenia attaches great importance to developing relations with China, firmly abides by the one-China principle, and is willing to work with China to plan for the future.
