PM Spencer Extends Condolences and Sympathies Over Yushu Quake

On April 15th, 2010, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Dr. the Hon. W. Baldwin Spencer on Thursday sent a message of condolences to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, following a 7.1 magnitude earthquake which struck Yushu.

In the message he expressed his "heartful sympathies and solidarity"to the Chinese people, particularly to he families of victims in the earthquake.

He also highly commended the "various relief efforts executed"by the Chinese government. He was confident that Chinese people and government will favorably recover from the disaster.

H. E. Mr. Chen Ligang, Chinese Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda expressed his appreciation to Mr. Baldwin Spencer for his sympathy and condolences for the Yushu earthquake. He reiterated the strong belief that with the efforts of the Chinese people and international support, people in affected areas will overcome the disaster and rebuild their homes.
