Notice on Updated Information for Chinese Visa Application

With the development of the pandemic and the need of visiting, from now on, acceptable visa to China for applicants in Antigua and Barbuda or St. Kitts and Nevis will be processed as follows:

1. Acceptable visa categories and required documents:

Issued to foreign family members (including spouses, parents, children under the age of 18, parents of spouses; adult children and their spouses or unmarried partners who really need to go to China) of M/F/Z visa holder's for resumption of work and production in China

a. Original certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of immediate family members between applicants and inviting individual

b. An invitation letter from the inviting individual (a foreigner who stays or resides in China for resumption of work and production)

c. A photocopy of the inviting individual's passport and Chinese residence permit/Z/M/F visa

*If an adult child and his/her spouse or unmarried partners apply for a Family Visit (S2) visa, in addition to the above documents, they should submit the appropriate statement of relationships.

Q1/Q2

Issued to foreign family members(including spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren) of Chinese citizens or foreign citizens with permanent residence status in China

a. Original certification (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship or notarized certification of kinship) showing the relationship of immediate family members between applicants and inviting individual

b. An invitation letter issued by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit who lives in China

c. Proof of the inviting individual's Chinese identity (e.g. Chinese ID card, household register), or foreigner's passport and Chinese permanent residence permit

Issued to those who are high-level talents or whose skills are urgently needed in China

Crew Visa

Guarantee letters issued by the foreign airlines or shipping companies, or invitation letters issued by the relevant organizations in China

(2) General documents:

a. Original passport with at least six months of remaining validity and blank visa pages, and a photocopy of the passport's bio-data page;

b. Completed visa application form and the confirmation page (please see “2. How to apply” for details);

c. One recently-taken color passport photo (bare-head, full face) against a light background, in 48mm x 33mm size;

d. A certificate of lawful stay and residence permit in Antigua and Barbuda or St. Kitts and Nevis for applicants from third countries.

e. The original Chinese passport and a photocopy of the passport's information/photo page, and extension page (if applicable) are required for first-time applicants whose former nationality was Chinese, or who were born in China (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan).

f. If the name in the new passport is different from that in the original one, the official document issued by authorities for name change is required.

g. Foreign citizens who were born in China and had obtained a Chinese visa before, when applying for visa with a new passport, shall submit a photocopy of the original passport's information/photo page and the page containing the previous Chinese visa.

(3) Notes:

a. To apply for the emergency humanitarian visa for the purpose of arranging funeral matters or visiting a family member(including spouses, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouses of children, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren) in critical medical conditions in China, applicants shall submit the identity document of the deceased or critically ill patient (such as a Chinese identity card or a foreign passport), a death certificate or a medical certificate of the patient issued by the hospital, proof of kinship, and other necessary documents as required.   

b. For diplomatic and official visas, please directly contact the consular office.

c. Generally, invitation letters shall be in the form of fax, photocopy or computer printout, although the original of the invitation letter may be requested.

d. Any incomplete, misleading or false statement in the application form may result in the delay or even the refusal of the visa.

e. Additional documents may be requested.

2. How to apply:

(1) Complete the online visa application(https://cova.mfa.gov.cn), download, print and sign the application form and the confirmation page.

(2) Send an email, attached with all documents required above according to visa categories, to chinaemb_ag@mfa.gov.cn for a preview.

(3) When the preview is approved, the applicant will be informed and instructed to apply online and send the full set of physical materials to the embassy.

(4) The physical materials will be reviewed. An interview may be required during the process of interview.

(5) Overseas Chinese who are residing in St. Kitts and Nevis need to come to the embassy and submit required documents in person, when applying for a Chinese visa for the first time.

3. Additional Information:

(1) Except for young children and people who cannot be vaccinated due to illness or other reasons, applicants are required to present verifiable documentation of full vaccination of COVID-19 vaccines approved for emergency use or licensed for use by China or WHO while applying for a visa. Please take necessary protective measures during application and trans-border travels.

(2) Generally, a visa can be obtained on the fourth business day, but the time for delivery, supplementary materials, verification, force majeure .etc is not included.
